Trying to Find a Great New CHEAP Camera and My Jip

So I am trying to find a new camera so my posts can come to you without looking really horrible. I talked to Brooke from GETCHA NAILS DID and she told me her camera of choice is a Cannon Powershot sx110is. It has 9 mega pixels and 10x optical zoom. From the research that I have been finding: this is a camera that is VERY close-up and rather pricey. I am looking for something that is close to the $100-150 range.
So I stopped by a Circuit City tonight, and I know they are almost gone, but I found an Olympus with a lithium-ion battery. It was on clearance for $119, perfect right? WRONG. I had an associate get it for me and he helped me pick out a memory card for $15. So I was soo ready to checkout and it rung up for $157. So I told the guy that it was $119 and showed him the sticker. He was ready to tell me it was wrong and then he was like yeah, that is right. So he stared at it for like 2 minutes. Then we walked back up to the register and he told me he wanted to mark it down for me, but he could change the price. So I repeated, "You can't change the price?" And he told me yes. So I asked to speak to a manager and he told me that the prices were locked and he couldn't change them either. I should have just told him to ring me up something the same price because it's not like it matters since they are GOING OUT OF BUSINESS.
Whatever, I guess it was good that I didn't get it b/c my bf and I are saving up to buy a house.
I went onto MUA and someone told me that they just bought a Cannon powershot that was marked down from $249 to $149. Wow. I think I can afford that! So I checked online and I can't find it. I'm gonna try to check it out tomorrow.
But I did find a Kodak - EasyShare 10.3-Megapixel Digital Camera for $109.

If you ladies could check out that link about and tell me if this camera will work for np pics? It does have a close up screen mode setting. Any help would be sooo appreciated.

TIA

I checked out the link. I was looking for the word "macro mode" since that is what I know is used to take those great close up pics. I didn't see it listed, but I would almost be that it does come with it! Another way to check is just see if like walmart carries the same camera and ask them questions, but then order it online. This seems like a pretty good camera. I think it looks to be right in the middle - not cheap but not he most pricey. I hope I offered a little bit of help for you :) GOOD LUCK girlfriend!

Nessa - As far as the Macro wording, I think as long as it has "macro" you are good for the closeups.

Also, to get those really upclose single nail pics - a little trick I learned---I just crop one of my whole hand pics! I think that is where all the mega pixels come in handy (as far as I know)! Even though you crop it down to one nail, it still stays nice and sharp and in focus.

Good job on finding that $200 gift card!

The Canon Powershot is THE camera I was going to get before I decided to go up another step and get the one that was a little bit more expensive. I believe that is the camera that other nail bloggers and beauty bloggers use !!! So I would say that it is a good one :) I don't know anything about the fuji one though

BROOKE-
Ok that's settled...I'm getting that Cannon Powershot. I never thought about the whole hand pics and then cropping. I probably looked like a real idiot at the store!
First trying to take a pic of my hand, then of my nail!
Haha..thanks so much...again!
I'll be getting it on Saturday (i hope). The bf and I are going to see Benjamin Button (a matinee b/c he's an old man and b/c it's cheaper), then I am dragging him over to that mall!
What are you planning for V-Day?

So far I have no plans for v-day. My bf is a real stick in the mud when it comes to holidays. But I am sure that we will doing something. I just recently figured out about just cropping the pic down, so please don't feel foolish :) I was outside the other day taking photo's of nail polish and I know people were looking at me like "look at this weirdo" - lol!

I think you will be happy with the canon. I went with a canon because I have always heard really good things about them. One other piece of advice, make sure you get either rechargable batteries or a cord that you can plug into the wall. I made the mistake and didn't get either, and my batteries last maybe 3 days!! Last time I checked at walmart they didn't have the cord I needed. I'm thinking about just going the rechargable battery way.

Sorry for getting back to you so late, but I thought the cannon has Rechargeble lithium ion battery. But now that I look at the specs, it doesn't really say how it charges. Thanks for the heads-up. I can't believe they don't give you the powercord to the wall!?
I have a camera that uses batteries and I bought the 15 minute rechargeable ones, but they still don't last very long. And that camera sucks so bad, my camera phone is better than it. I only paid $88 for it so I can't really complain. Thanks again!
