New Mood Polishes @ Meijer!

I stopped by Meijer yesterday to see if they had anything that I NEEDED to have since I am trying to go on a no-buy to pay for my wedding--yes, I am engaged, but more on that later!

I found a display of np's called Mood Struck. Sorry for the next 2 pics, camera phone + shakey hands from excitement= really blurrry pics!

Look at all that mood-changing-goodness! Although a lot of them were repeating colors.

Some of them looked like they were very watery and sheer, which I thought meant that they wouldn't work too well. So I picked one that looked like it would be the most drastic change. I went with this one:

This was all that was on each of them.

And they were each $3.99.

Unfortuately when I got home I realized that this really looks like the Calm/Wild from Claire's. So I pulled out that bottle to do a comparison.

Pretty f-ing close, eh?

Mood Struck looks a little bit of a truer purple(?) than Calm/Wild.
Let's see if we can tell the difference...

Can you?

I can't.
This is 2 coats of each. Index and ring are Calm/Wild; Middle and Pinky are Mood Struck. I think :)

It was apparant with the first stroke that Mood Struck was definitely a mood polish! I have to go back for more! Screw the no-buy, these are cheap, beautiful, awesome, what else can I say to justify this purchase?...Everything! Anything!

I'd say that the formula is a little better than Calm/Wild since mine was a little thick.

There was a lovely light pink to pale yellow with shimmer that I really want!

Just for good measure, here's some hot/cold water pics.

For those Mid-westerners, head over to your local Meijer to check these beauties out! They were on a side display at mine.

Has anyone else seen these?

Thanks for looking!

Nicole Blues in the Night

I got this two pack from Marshalls for $6.99.

Really Really Red is a perfect red. I haven't tried it yet but it looks like the truest red I have.

Blues in the Night is a gorgeous, shifting-color-changing beauty! This shifts from black with blue, green, purple, red shimmer! It reminds me of Borghese Stellare Notte but with shimmer.

The color in the bottle is beautiful! It's really hard to see this on the nail, but still such a gorgeous color!

This is my first Nicole and it applied beautifully! This is three coats I believe.

Thanks for looking!

I will be having something special for all of you soon, see HERE for some details.

Lancome Exotique Kiss

A while back I won a gift pack from The Lancome Blog (check them out-- they give away a ton of stuff all the time).

Anyways...Lancome Le Vernis Exotique Kiss came with the pack and I just got to try it on last month.

(please excuse the horrible cuticles)

A shimmery peachy pink! This was about three coats. It applied like butter!

Friday Night Girls-Night-In Mani & Pedi

So last night my best friend, Emily, and I had a Friday night Girls-Night-In and had a mani/pedi-a-thon with the new Zoyas I got. While we were doing this we had Heathers playing in the background.

Has anyone seen this movie? We rented it because it is a 'cult classic' comedy and we thought it would be good for a laugh. I don't think this should have been in the comedy section at all. It was rather dark.

Anyway, onto the polish!

First up is Pru. A warm pink with gold shimmer. Very beautiful. Below is 2 coats. These pics were taken on the fourth day!

see all that shimmeriness?

artifical light
this one is the best to how it looks IRL

I read somewhere recently that 2 basecoats is better than one, so I am going to start doing that from now on. I used Zoya's a coat each of: ridge filler, anchor, the polish (2 coats), armor, and hurry up drops. This mani lasted to 5 days without looking horrible!

Em liked Pru so much on my nails, she wanted them on hers! So here's her pics. Mind you, they were taken at like midnight last night so the lighting isn't spectacular. (these are all precleanup pics)

blurred to show the shimmeriness!

WARNING TOES!!!
I feel that I have to do that now, just in case some are squimish about toes.

Here's Em toes with 2 coats of Salma. A lovely color!

Here's my mani. Lovely, bright Sienna. This is 3 coats and you can still see the VNL. I think next time I wear this I will do a first coat of a cream orange and top it with this. I think this is a great Halloween color!

Do you like Pru or Sienna? I know Salma has been on a lot of blogs lately b/c it is one of Zoya's newest colors.
How was your Friday night?

Illamasqua Phallic (Finally)

I actually received this the end of last week (or the week before- can't remember). Anyway here are my swatches of the beautiful Phallic! (2 coats)
It was very hard to capture the sparkley glitterness. And I didn't realize how dark the color is in normal lighting. A lot of people asked if I was wearing black.

It's so shiny that it's hard to capture the true glitteriness of it. I think that attributes to the SH Mega Shine topcoat I used. Below is the line up of what I used.
This is a first for me to use these two together. I had heard that SH Nail Quencher Basecoat was awesome and SH Mega Shine said that it would make my nail polish lasy up to 10 days and that it dried quickly so I gave it a shot too.
On the second day I applied an additional coat of Phallic because there was a lot of shrinkage. Unfortunately this was the 3rd day.

a chip?

tipwear/shrinkage?!!

I couldn't believe it! Has anyone tried this combo (SH NQ + SH MS)?

NOTD Love My Nails Mauve Shimmer

So after my failed attempt at a nice orangey/coral VS nail lacquer, I decided to do another one close to the same color.

This is Love My Nails Mauve Shimmer.
Check out the shimma!

This was a bit hard to capture. It is more of a dark coral with gold shimmer. I really like this color. I think I might try to do a gradient with this and maybe OPI Bright Lights Big Color, a color very similar to the failed VS that I used the other day.

NOTD Victoria's Secret Cocktail

I wanted to show you this before I removed it. This is the first time I have used Victoria's Secret Nail Lacquer and I won't ever use it again. First let's check out the crap-tacular bottle.

Very small bottle, but amazing color.

The cap pops off for an even worse applicator.

(indoor light)

As you can see the color is amazing, but the polish started peeling off on my pointer finger. And I han't even taken a shower yet! (2 coats and you can still see the VNL)

Here's what it did to my middle finger. It all came off in one sheet!

Have you tried VS nail lacquer? My advice don't bother.

Pretty color, though. Pitty. Maybe I can layer it?
